Standard Solar Expands New York Community Solar Portfolio with Two-Project Acquisition from EDF power solutions

Standard Solar has acquired two New York community solar projects from EDF power solutions North America. Building on our established presence in this active distributed-solar market, this ~8 MW addition includes the 3.9 MW Water Chestnut project in Allegany County and the 4 MW Hanoverian project in Monroe County.

Both NYSERDA-awarded projects are expected to be completed in early 2027, expanding clean energy access for local subscribers and delivering long-term value to the grid.

The DGenerates Will Inherit the Industry

The distributed generation market is at a crossroads: to meet incredible energy demand, key stakeholders must align to generate projects faster, smarter and at greater scale. In “The DGenerates will inherit the industry,” Solar Builder Magazine examines the current DG sector with insights from clean energy leaders.

Our Vice President of Business Development, Megan Byrn, highlights how misaligned expectations and thinner margins have elongated development timelines for post-ITC projects. She urges transparent, upfront valuation assumptions to ensure deals close quickly and keep projects moving in a tighter capital market.

Podcast: The Community Solar Standard

Eric Partyka, Director of Business Development at Standard Solar, recently joined Sean White's Solar and Energy Storage Podcast to discuss community solar. Eric breaks down how renters, low-income households and small businesses can subscribe to solar energy without installing rooftop panels. He also details state adoption trends and utility deregulation, showing exactly why community solar makes economic and environmental sense.

The Grid is in Better Shape This Summer. Thank Solar and Batteries.

A new summer reliability assessment of our grid from the North American Electric Reliability Corp (NERC) shows that the grid is well equipped to handle the impending heat. Part of the reason for this is new solar and storage. “It’s not the presence of expensive old fossil-fueled power plants that has put the grid in a good position heading into the summer — it’s the rapid expansion of solar and energy storage”. Solar and energy storage stabilize the American energy grid because they provide fast-response capacity, offset costly peak demand and enhance energy resilience.
